Understand how ideas and concepts inform art and design work

Web Banners

I liked the Orange web banner (one on the right) it advertises the Orange network cover for mobiles. I likes this particular advert because it thinks outside of the box, it doesn't follow normal standards as such, it doesn't go on about how much better their coverage is and what not it says why we think we should use the company, but in a more childish way of sorts. But done in a way that will amuse most ages, I would say however that it is directed at a younger audience opposed to a middle aged+ audience. This is good as we are the kind of people that have phones more than any other age range. I believe this to be a really good idea, because by using random things to promote their facts and company it is more eye catching and will draw more attention then just normal boring adverts.

I liked this advert despite the fact it is probably fake and may ruin your computer I thought it was quite amusing using the picture of Albert Einstein to advertise IQ which is associated with intelligence, the idea is probably not original I like the image they use for Einstein and I always find it funny and makes me laugh, in my opinion in using this particular image of Einstein is slightly oxymoronic due to the fact Einstein being the genius that he is he looks rather special in this image  and thus advertising IQ I thought too added to the amusement of this image

This webbanner was found on a site called wowwiki (a wikipedia for World of Warcraft) and I thought it was really funny, the webbanner was like a short advert advertising warcraft using Chuck Noris. As most people know of Chuck Noris's nosicle films and know how far-fetched some of them can be, it sort of takes the mick of that and Chuck Norris actually starrs within the advert and at the end he says that he 'approves this game' which as a lot of people know is a big deal. This advert would be for all kinds of ages, from 12+ to all of whom know chuck norris and like MMORPG and possibly younger.

TV commercials

This advert was the coolest advert I had ever seen when it first came out, using the catch phrase "Citron C4 - Alive with technology"
which is really clever making the Car transform and come alive as such demonstrating great skill on ice as it does flawless turns and stops perfectally which is a reflection on the car saying that it is able to do that. This advert will appeal to all ages as a child I really liked and my Dad thought it was really cool too, but in cleverly doing this it widens the audience all though they cannot all buy the car a child maybe heavily influecned and want their parents to have the car.
I thought this advert was really well done as nothing had really been done like this at the time (as it was out before Transformers) and was unique.

This advert is for the MMORPG World of Warcraft, I likes this advert because it took a celebrity that is really well known due to the Austin Powers movies (he is Minime) and got him to advertise World of Warcraft and they also made the in-game character look like the celebrity which too adds to the humour. At parts of the advertisement they even 'comment' on his size "World of Warcraft is huge, like my mage" which is the smallest playable race in WoW which in my opinion makes it funnier.
This advert would advertise to all ages, to the teens and Adults who have watched the Austin Powers movies and recognise him or to people or just to people who think this would be there kind of game.
This advertises a tv show 'The Amazing World of Gumball' which is a childs programme which is clearly shown in this advertisment.
The advert I thought was quite funny and random which would appeal to the intended audience. Certain parts really amused me to the point I wanted to watch and episode, The thing I like about this advert is that it takes a child tv show and gives it a sort of movie trailer kind of theme when I think adds to the humor and even comments on the 'movie voice' which is always used in movie trailers.

Guerilla Advertising

This advert is for a film (wasnt aired in this country) along with the company that is showing the film. I think this advert is really well done, and may actually concern people when they initially look at the image which I think is genious. Also the fact that they are using a fake arm to come out of the trunk will make people look twice and possible look around the cab as to what the hell is going on, which hopefully should direct them to the advert next the arm. Another positive to using this perticular advert for the film is the fact that it will also show the viewers what the genre the film is.

This advert is against littering on the beach, and obviously to dispose of your cigarette buds carefully. I think this advert too is very carefully because people who normally just smoke and then fling their buds away may think twice once seeing this advert. And it is obvious who the audience is - not only smokers but to everyone else who may benifit from this advert.

This advert is for National Geographic I think this too is very clever, this advert is aimed for those who are interested in sharks or shark lovers, and is shown by the doors on the tram being shark jaws and then as they close it eats those who just got onto the tram, which just looks awesome. It may also appeal to young children because children think sharks are cool and may cause them to go on the tram, so not only does it advertise the channel for the sharks but also may make people want to go on the tram.

Magazine Advertisment

This advert is promoting the Apple Macbook Pro, basically showing off how thin and light the new laptop is (however this would be shown in performance as macs arent good). It uses the double page spread of a magazine which is clever as it can show the screen and keyboard of the device, the target audience would be for those who have money to spend on over-priced laptops and like apple.

This advert is for very low UV protection sun tan lotion, in the fact the sheets provided are reflective for those who use the tin sheets to get increased sun tan lotion. This advert would be very appealing to most who enjoy the beach and sunny weather along with getting a tan. It would also remind people to use some form of UV protectiong even if it is very low.

This advert is for the Addidas clothes range, it allows you to flip between the pages thus making the woman excersize, and so cleverly it is also promoting fitness. Another thing which it may be trying to get across is the fact there is no wearing out on her bottoms and even if you flip the page there wont be thus shoing that their products are long lasting and fit for purpose.

Concept Fan

For this task Myself, Jason and Max had to come up with design that think outside the box and to help us do that we had a similar method to mind mapping to help us come up with our ideas. The idea behind the concept fan is to allow the creator to think outside the box to over-come problem, to help when it comes to skills we will need in later life so that we will think uniquely and help us think more abstractly which may impress interviewers.

The first problem that we had to overcome by using the concept fan was Litter within the College:

We then had to come up with our own idea and we thought an interesting idea to try and overcome would e smoking, or at least how to deal with smoking by banning it in public areas, making it against the law completely.
One of the positives of doing it this way is that the idea is to think outside the box and so some of the less serious ideas can be as futuristic and slightly wacky as we want, providing as its not to abusive or doesn't kill and it could actually help towards the problem.

This is a poster advertising Emporio Armani Night, one the brands many aftershaves.
This image in particular is very  derogative  and thought provoking, although it may look like a fairly standard seductive poster there is lots of hidden imagery and subliminal messages behind it.
Colour Scheme - The colour scheme of black and red in itself brings meaning to the image, red could by symbolic for lust and danger and black represent mystery and danger, and given that this new fragrance is called night, most could associate's ones lust and danger becoming more apparent with the night. the colour scheme is also very powerful in the fact they stand out very well on each other and is very eye catching
Background, the background used in this image us a flight of stairs, giving no indication where it is going nor where it came from, which too plays on the colour scheme of mystery, giving more of an edge of mystery in the fact that you have no idea where they are or where they are coming from. Also from this flight of stairs it adds a  new perceptive of cursorily in the fact the viewer is going to want know where they are and where they are going.
The poses the models are using within this advertisement is very symbolic, the main focus of this advert is the woman and her stance as it were is almost replicating Jesus, with her arms open andbody near enough straight down, this could implement that this perfume will make you more then human in the eyes of others, or that this woman is holy, heavenly and this in return could be reflected in any normal person by wearing this perfume.
The male model in the back is very difficult to see and almost blended in the stairs due lighting and colour of it all, were as this draws attention to the woman, meaning that this holy symbol or spiritual being can attained by a normal person, from wearing this perfume/aftershave
