London 2012 Olympics poster

London 2012 Olympics poster
Ideas Generation

For this section we had to come up with ideas, idea progression and posters for the London Olympics 2012 in groups. My group for the project was Myself, Connor and Richard.,
We first created a mind map, listing things that could be used from London itself, cultural diversity and games that take place within the Olympics.
After this we were all still very separated about our ideas, and so we all created mood boards, to help develop ideas that we had, to see if after we could come together. The main subject of my mood board was Animals, animals that are special or associated with different cultures

after more toying with our ideas Me and Connor began going though each others ideas, we came up with the idea of having the Olympic ring with each with its own image, in essence this would become a 5 different images, magazine adds or posters, which would all link together, or come together/untie somehow.

After going through various options of what to use and what to include in our image, we came up with a relatively final idea, to have 5 traditionally British/London things all with circles or rings in that could then be used to show an Olympic ring. And then we would bring them together in the Olympic arena
Also to link the images further we came up with the Slogan "Lets Unite" bringing a a sense of unity to both the Olympic games and our posters. Also at the bottom of each poster we are adding the London 2012 Olympics logo.

After Discussion me and Connor decided that we would only do 4 British images and then have the 5th ring as the Olympic arena

We will be using the five different coloured Olympic rings to represent something different in each image.
Eventually we decided on what five things to have represent London and Britain and what rings to use in which Poster
the 6 things we we decided to choose were:
The London Eye
Big Ben
Underground Sign
Cup of Tea
Red Bus
but as I said, after discussion me and Connor decided to only do 4 London images, and we took away the red bus and changed the last ring to be the Olympic ring.

After deciding on images, we wanted to have the images come in the order of the rings, so we decided to associate's different coloured rings with the different images
1st - Blue - Big Ben
2nd - Yellow - Underground Sign
3rd - Black - Arena
4th - Green - Cup of Tea
5th - Red - London Eye

Through discussion, we decided to have the black ring around the Arena last, because we though using the arena as a point where they can all come together - London uniting in the Olympic stadium. The rest shall be in their normal order. Another thing which is being included within the last poster is that all the rings shall be implemented  to form the Olympic logo

One thing we decided on, as we already associated colours with the images, and we wanted to have the stadium last, we will have it at the end but show that the black ring is in the middle, and possibly holding it all together, or uniting them together.

London Eye, was created by Connor, with my small help with the layer styles

London Underground sign - this image was relatively tricky to make because the quality of the actual underground sign was really bad, and so I had to find a new one to replace it and still allow the actual underground sign to still be legible and easy to read. After I had found a new one, I made the new ring to fit the sign and then put a underground sign over the top.

The London Eye - This idea was really simple and yet I think works really well, having playing with lighting effect and colour styles it was easy to swap colours and then implace the ring.

Cup of tea - This was created by Connor

Olympic Stadium - the base of this image was found and ring put on by Richard (such as sizing of the ring and implementing the 2012 logo on the arena floor) , the rest however was created by me I added the layer style, brought in the other rings and then font added by me not a taxing or time consuming job, but still not ideal. However through discussion decided on what to have where and in what style, so from the input of my peers we came to this finished poster.

After completing the posters, we were advised to show how the would be shown within a magazine, I thought it would be better to have them spaced out, thus becoming a series of posters within a magazine. But as shown here they are unison and one after the other for the purpose of showing more than one in a basic magazine/book outline.

Presentation
Due to techniacal difficulty, the file we had made with the presentation did not work and so I have print screened each page, so that you get a brief understanding of the presentation
Although the presentation is very bare, we decided to have it more visual and talk through it apposed to just reading from the screen.
